T-Shirt Changes Pattern to Indicate High Levels of Carbon Monoxide

For those of you who can't stand being around tobacco smoke, your overdramatic coughing and waving of the hand may soon become unnecessary, thanks to a new t-shirt made by a couple of NYU graduate students. Called "Warning Signs", the t-shirt is actually a carbon monoxide detector. Two versions of the t-shirt have been made, one with a pair of lungs and another with a heart. In the presence of high levels of carbon monoxide, blue-colored "veins" begin to appear on the pink-colored organs. Originally intended to visualize the amount of pollution in the atmosphere, the technology behind the shirt could also find uses in the home to warn of a faulty heating system, or perhaps as a silent, but chic statement to a room of chain-smokers!
