Certified Alarms is pleased to announce that Rusty Howard, owner of Certified Alarms, recently became the newest member on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers.
Rusty has spent his entire career dedicated to helping people keep themselves, their families, their homes, and their business safe from burglary and invasion. All over South Louisiana there are people who know and trust Rusty because of his dedication to the crime prevention industry. Serving on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers, gives him the opportunity to further his involvement in the fight against crime.

Although we wish it were the case, all crime can not be prevented. That’s where Crime Stoppers comes into play. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1982 by business leaders and concerned citizens whose sole purpose was to address the number one issue in communities, “CRIME.” They cover nine parishes in Louisiana: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Point Coupee, and St. Helena. People tend to not get involved if a crime is committed because of apathy and fear of retaliation that they may receive from the criminal if they should be used as a witness. Crime Stoppers offers a solution by providing a 24 hour hotline to call that gives concerned citizens anonymity. To insure that all callers remain anonymous, a Crime Stoppers code number is given to each caller. Crime Stoppers will never ask that callers reveal their identity or testify in court. This gives those concerned citizens the ability to get involved in helping make our communities a safer place to live without fear.

Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards ranging from $50.00 to $2500.00, depending on the severity of the crime, to callers that information resulting in an arrest, indictment of an individual, or the recovery of stolen property and/or narcotics. There are three major essentials that are needed to make Crime Stoppers a successful organization: the media, the police, and you.

You, as a member of the community, are the foundation of the organization. You, the supporter, join Crime Stoppers at public events and other fund raising activities in an attempt to raise funds to continue their efforts. You, a member of the public, create the Board of Directors made of twenty-five volunteers who carry the responsibility of operating this non-profit organization. You, the concerned citizen, call Crime Stoppers with valuable information leading to the indictment of criminals and the recovery of stolen property.
